Shaking Engine/Camshaft Sensor
I have a 99 Camry 4 Cyl with 110K miles. Last week I was driving, the car became very strugglish and I unable to pick-up any speed. When I pulled over to the side of the road the car just cut off and when not start.
Had car towed to auto repair shop. He replaced my timing belt, water pump, tension, and crank seals. When repair shop was testing driving car he said the engine was shaking, so a diag. test was done and indiciated a problem with the camshaft senor and the O2 sensor (I already knew about this sensor). The repair shop said I need to replaced the cramshaft senor and the engine shaking when stop. So I drive my car home and the engine is shaking...then the engine light comes on. As always looking for a second option, I had a co-worker call his friend at the Toyota Dealer Repair Shop. The guy at the dealer repair shop said the timing belt was not installed correctly that is why the engine shakes and the diag. test displayed an error on the camshaft sensor Will here I am looking for a third option........ Both of those could be a possibility. I figure that the sensor was ready to go bad when they replaced the belt and stuff and finally killed itself when the engine light came on. But it is also possible that the timing belt was installed incorrectly and causes some severe engine shaking. Also, you might want to check and see that they put the "dog-bone" motor mount back in properly, and tight.

Thanks yotatechie04 - I took the car back to the repair shop they have indicated that the timing belt is in correctly, now they are going to put a new senor in and see if the shaking stops.

I think you might have a problem with the coil. Please ask your mechanic to check the coil system.
