2001 Town & Country -- Ignition Key will not turn

Our 2001 Town & Country Minivan hasd 57K miles. This morning we got in the car and when we attempted to start the vehicle the key would not turn.

The steering wheel was not locked (as it usually is). We turned the wheel to the right until the wheel locked, then tried to insert the key to turn on the ignition. The key will not turn in either direction. Thus we can't turn on the accessories or start the car.

What could be causing this problem? What is involved with getting it repaired? What can we expect to pay?

Sometimes there is pressure on the steering wheel that will lock the key down and it will not turn . Try to turn the steering wheel to the left to release that pressure it works sometimes and unlocks the key.
