I have read the information in 2000 Driver window Quit. My 1999 is the new style. I have the door panel off and I am looking for information on fixing the broken cable my motor still works. If you have tried to fix the cable. Please let me know if you were able to repair and how long the fix lasted. I am going to try to fix this cable and if it work relay the information with updates on how long it last.
This is the 2nd time my cable has broken. The first time it was under warranty in 2001 @26000 miles. I have written to GM before finding this website. But did not have any luck as of yet. Please send E-mail to GM. If people keep writing them perhap they will change this lemon part to a higher Quality part that will not break every 2 1/2 years or less. If GM wants people to keep buying thier products they must stand behind them! |

Re: 1999 Z71 Cable Broke in Driver Door. Motor is OK.
You can buy a whole new assembly off eBay for around $75-$100. Make sure it's not the cheap China made one though the good ones will state so in the ad.

Re: 1999 Z71 Cable Broke in Driver Door. Motor is OK.
I have a 99 silverado and have had three motors replaced. First problem was loose bolt in passenger upper pulley. Loose pulley will allow cable to come off and then cable will jam and get ruined. Appears that problem is more prevalent with passenger side. I figured that longer wire to motor caused sufficient voltage drop to starve power from motor. A friend suggested the track might be out of allignment and motor doesn't have sufficient power to overcome. I called GM and they won't budge once you are out of warrantee.
