oil over pressure problem

I have an engine oil over pressure rpoblem. Oil is coming up into the rocker cover and leaking out into the engine bay creating a mess. When I check oil levels there is a big release of air asif under pressure, any ideas?
engine is not blowing smoke or using oil. Happened almost overnite.
