1996 Windstar Oil Pressure Light

I just purchased a 1996 Windstar with the 3.8 motor...51,000 miles. At highway speed the oil pressure light comes on. Took it to a mechanic and was told the oil pump is ok and the sending sensor is working fine. Any ideas? All help would be very much appreciated.
