Unhappy almost flooding

When i first start my car my engine sputters and idles really rough. When i start going down the road it seems that it is about to flood itself out and then it throws me back in the seat when it returns to normal operations. It doesnt do this every time but when it does you can feel it, usually you can smell gas too...i need help! any suggestions!? BTY it is a 3.1 v6 with just over 121,000 miles

Re: almost flooding

sounds like a sticky IAC valve. The other likely culprit is a bad EGR valve. Both will cause missing and rough idle when the engine is cold. IF it straightens out completely when the engine is warmed up, I would look at the EGR first.
