|
antifreeze smoke coming through my vents
My 98 V6 grand am is overheating and i have smoke that smells like anti freeze only coming through my vents(ac or heat is not on) i dont see any smoke on the outside of the car...is it my thermostat or do i have a leak in the heater core...or both...or not eather of those? not sure what do you all think?

if it's coming threw threw the top vent, that is running along your window, it's most likly the heater core.

you know what ive noticed that too once in a while i'll have a foggy kinda smoke comming through the vents when the ac is on.....but i have a heater core bypass so it cant be my heater core

Change the heater core and the problem should go away. The reason you are overheating is probably due to low coolant caused by the heater core leak. While you have the system drained now would be a good time to change the thermostat.
