Question 2001 Grand Cherokee (HVAC)

If someone has any answers I'd very much appreciate hearing them. I have a 2001 Grand Cherokee with HVAC dual-climate control. Yesterday, it just quit working altogether. It worked in the morning, but when I got back into the car later that afternoon is when I noticed it. I'm not getting anything from the blower, it's as though the fan's not working. There's no flow through the air-conditioner or main dash vents. Do I have some kind of a vacuum leak or hose problem? I've check the fuses and they all look fine (as far as I can tell anyway). Being a woman, I'd like to hear any possibilities before I take it back to the dealership. I no longer have it under warranty and don't want to come out with a new air-conditioning unit. Thanks for the replys.

Have had the same problems with my 99 GC, Probrobly your blower motor resistor or the blower motor itself. These problems also could have caused or be caused by a bad wiring harness to the blower motor also, Good Luck.

Thanks!

Thank you so much. We've checked the fan motor itself and it seems to be fine. We had it working the other night and now it turns on and shuts off intermittently. It's strange. What's the motor resistor and where can i find it? I can push up the wires that run from the fan that go into the dash and 9-10 times it starts again. Any idea where those wires run to? Thanks again!

Not exactly sure where the resistor is b/c mine was covered under my extended warranty. The only problem with replacing the resistor is if the motor or the wiring harnes are bad it probably make the resitor go bad fairly quickly again. The wiring harnes is about $100, and i think the resistor is about $50 but I am not sure. If the motor is pulling to many amps it willl melt the wiring harness. Mine was doing the exact same thing (not working all the time, coming on and then off and i had to have all three replaced) Good Luck.

Re: 2001 Grand Cherokee (HVAC)

I had the same problem with my '01 Grand Ltd. The dealership replaced the blower motor and the blower motor resistor. Less than a year later, the resistor had to be replaced again. They tell me it's not a chronic problem but if it happens a third time, I may start to get concerned.
