Squealing Problem

Sometimes when I start my car i will hear something squeal really hard.. for just a few seconds and then it will stop. For a while it would start up when i would be stopped. If i had the AC on it woudl start up, and if i would turn it off it would quit... It only does the squealing now when I crank my 97. Protege' up... What is the problem? Maybe a belt?

Re: Squealing Problem

yea, its probably ur a/c belt. i had the same problem with my 94 protege lx. i went to the shop to see what was wrong but they could never find any problems with any of the belts or anything. so i went to autozone and got this stuff called belt dressing. i applied it to the belt and the squeeking would be gone for a few weeks at a time. when it starts squeeking again you would have to go and apply it again.
