Transmission hesitates 1992 Buick Le Sabre

1992 Buick Le Sabre. Today the transmision lost power (almost like being in neutral, but was in drive) for a few seconds at stoplights. Each time when it was time to go, there was no response from the transmission for a few seconds, then the transmission would "grab" and act normal again. This happened about a year ago, then stopped. I checked fluid and it seems to be full. Any suggestions? Could having the fluid changed help this? It's overdue to be changed. Appreciate any help on this.

i had almost this exact problem, but also when i would get around 53mph+ it would whistle, turned out my third gear went. my car is in the shop right now getting its new tranny.

anyone know how long it takes to replace a tranny, the guy said its pretty rusty under the car and it will take more hours than he is allowed to charge. he said he can only charge 6hours of labor on it.
