Comeback of the Silvia?

Has anyone heard about nissan bringing the silvia back to life? I have heard twice now about Nissan's growing interest in bringing it back.

Re: Comeback of the Silvia?

I didnt hear anything about that yet, but hopefully they bring it back with the SR20DET. Then drifters can have a new car to play with.

Re: Comeback of the Silvia?

Nissan officially said it; S-15 would be the last product of the series. So maybe they gonna toy around with Skyline series I assume

They started the skyline back up again in 2003. We got it in the US as the Infiniti G35. Nissan is still working the new GT-R though. We got a peek at it at the 2002 Tokyo Auto show and a newer revamped version in the current Road & Track with the 350Z on the cover (Aug04 i think). It is slated to come out in 2007. Both times I have seen it, it has been left hand drive, meaning it may be destined for US shores.

This thread is about the Silvia, not the Skyline.

Here's some articles about a new Silvia.

The piece de resistance will likely be a new supercharged VQ25. [b]Early rumors had surfaced that the S16 would be a marketed as the next-generation Sentra coupe here in the US, but reliable sources say that is incorrect.[b/] It is likely that platform will be sold in limited numbers sometime early next year. With that said, we can tell you there will be another Silvia, but we can't assure you of its drivetrain layout, or whether or not we'll ever be seeing it stateside. One can only hope.

'Godzilla' set to roar again

The Age
Thursday February 6 2003
Nissan's revival gathers more speed, reports Cameron McGavin.

...Ironically, the arrival of Nissan's new Z-car comes just as its sweet-driving 200SX sports coupe sibling bows out of the Australian market because of problems meeting future emission regulations.

But fans of affordable sports cars need not fret, because a replacement is already under development.

Nissan's John Yukawa confirmed that a new 200SX was on the way and that it would stay true to the philosophy of its predecessor. Don't be surprised, then, if the 200SX replacement is another compact, rear-drive, turbocharged coupe.

"The 200SX is an entry car for the young guy, the Z-car is a car for the macho guy and the GT-R is a car for the enthusiast," said Yukawa. "Nissan is always seeking to provide fun-to-drive cars for the customers, especially for enthusiasts. This is the Nissan way."

TOKYO — Nissan Motor Co will release eight models through the first half of the next fiscal year, including remodeled vehicles, to spur domestic sales, a Japanese business daily reported Tuesday.

The Nihon Keizai Shimbun said the eight models include the Murano sport utility vehicle in the August-October period this year and a subcompact and a sports car in the January-March period next year. (Kyodo News)

Re: Comeback of the Silvia?

I'd like to see the actual article. I found nothing at the Super Street website, and I have heard nothing here. I don't believe we'll see an S16 Silvia. More internet legends?

If it is for real it will be on the internet somewhere. I find no evidense of it. I find it hard to believe. The Silvia is dead guys. Give it up.
