spots on my dash gauges
Hi, I have spots on the inside of my dash gauges. They are circular and all different sizes and just look like dull spots. I think it most likely condensation. (I have no idea why condensation would get in there.) But is there anyway to get inside the gauges to wipe the plastic? (I would think it isn't just because they don't want people rolling the odometers back.) Or I was thinking if I could somehow spray really dry air into the gauges so it would absorb any condensation in there. Any ideas?

Re: spots on my dash gauges
Just to update though, I don't even know if it is condensation. All I know is they are dull circle spots in my gauge's clear plastic and they are all different sizes. The only thing I can make sense of it is that they are condensation. I've noticed the circles since I had to take the trim off the top of the gauges. (The trim that has the check engine light, traction control lights, etc.)

Re: spots on my dash gauges
In my 95 I have a variety of little spots as well. A few seem to be on the back as yours are, and I don't think my dash has ever been apart.
Most of them however I can identify and are on the outside, though they don't seem to be removable. A few are droplets of armor-all type stuff (I use Meguiar's personally). Those show up as kind of multicolored greasy looking ones under the right light. The rest, while not exactly a pretty thought, I can likely trace back to the innumerable times I have sneezed while in my drivers seat. You get a little dried snot on all the fine scratches in the plastic, and voila! Mystery dots! Now why my plastic gauge cover looks like I've gone over it with a pad of steel wool from some angles, but not others, I have no idea... |

replace lense over gauges
I replaced the lense, with a little difficult, for approx $15 and some time.
It can be ordered from a good body shop or GM parts dealer. The body shop wanted to charge 3+ hours labor for the job so I did it myself. Just dont use cleaning products on the plastic lense. They will etch it. JK |
