help me pick my heads???
I am done building my short block 383 LT1 and now it is time to get a set of heads... Should I just go with a set of LT4 heads and have them Ported and Polished to the max or go with a set of Brodix 15* and have them machined to fit and set up for the reverse water flow... Oh and this is a custom grind cam so I cant give any spec on it… lets just say its large but would still be street able with a M6…

Re: help me pick my heads???
I like AFR aluminum heads. Personally thought I would talk to an engine shop to email summit racing and ask them.

Re: help me pick my heads???
I would never scrap an LT1 for a GEN I small block unless I was building an All out race car and using a very expensive block (non-production block). The LT1 improved upon the standard Gen I in enough ways to make it an infamous engine within its 5 year run! There are LT1 production blocks out there running at the 1000 HP mark without issues, Very few production Gen I blocks can handle the stresses from high HP applications, hence the need for non production blocks. The LS1 is a different story...It's Head design alone reinvented the small Block platform and made the Gen I and Gen II look like a piece of ancient history!

Re: help me pick my heads???
opti is the distributor, not the water pump. or are you switching to a different style of distributor ?

Re: help me pick my heads???
but my personal objections aside, seeing as they dont really apply, i would probly vote for the Brodix 15* heads as they have much more potential due to improoved valve angle. but your best bet is to compair the flowbench data from a group of potentially good heads and choose baised off that data. the manufacturer should be able to provide that information.

Re: help me pick my heads???
If you are putting the money out for some nice aluminum heads, (brodix), you should look into some AFR's. They flow a little better and provide a little more area under the curve from what I've seen.
