Angry Tranny problems

Well my transmission has been acting kind of wierd the past few weeks and today it finally started to worry me. Well about a month ago my cruise control decided that it just wasn't going to work anymore. Which is fine I can live without it but soon after when I was going down the highway at a constant speed the engine would jump 200 or 300 RPMS. I have been experiencing some slipping as well when I first take off from drive. Now today I go out no slipping but the vehicle will not go any higher than third gear. The engine will just rev but it won't shift over. Does this look like a new tranny or maybe something more simple??? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

I am sure you have checked the fluid, and made sure it did not smell burnt. If that is good. I can tell you that my blazer did the same thing at 92,000 miles. I got a check engine light when mine did it are you getting that light?

Yes, check the tranny fluid level while hot idling in park.

Have you ever got your transmission fluid changed with a new filter?

Re: Tranny problems

Hehe, your gonna need a new transmission. No doubt. Mine started this 500 miles before it died, i'd be goin sixty down the highway, give it gas i'd go to 3500 rpm and i really couldn't speed up. then it dumped all its fluid all over the back of my truck and messed up the paint. then when you'd give it too much gas from a startup youd get a WWWEEEERRRRRRRRRRRPPP noise. ANd then about two weeks later we limped it to the dealership in first gear at 3000rpm in first gear. We also had another present, a rotted out transfer case. But she's back on teh road lookin good as ever. Lots of miles though. But i can tell ya thats the beginnin of the end.
