Unhappy broken hood release cable

went to replace my battery in 1986 coupe and the hood latch cable broke. anyway to open hood? ( dealer said to bring it in, but battery is dead) thanx for any reply

I will look and see on mine, I have an 88 so I dont know if its the same but, any help I can offer.

I told you I would, and I did. The only way I can think of is stick a screwdrver in there and press down/up on the lever you usually use after you pull the handle in the car. Just a suggestion, it may work, it may not, but I assume no responsibility for any damage caused in the process.
