"raced a mercedes today"

In an effort to get these forums moving today I'll post up my first "race" in my 944. I was on my way to work in my 85 944 today on a 2 lane frontage type road. Not much traffic. I was cruising the speed limit when this new mercedes (C class-not super charged, coulda been the 2.6 or 3.2) creeps up my ass, rides for a while, then passes me going way faster than is at all common on that road. Then she slows down (mid-twenties "high class" looking girl). It took me a minute, but I finally figure out she wants to race.

There's a one lane stop light so were stuck apart for a minute, but then it splits to 2 again. I'm ahead of her so I slow down a little and wait. She slowly creeps up, then accelerates hard when she's just behind me. I match pace leaving it in 3rd gear most of the way up. She's definetly accelerating quickly, but not full throttle. The whole time she's looking ahead with this really serious look. Were comming up on my turn, but I keep matching her speed. Eventually I have to slam on my breaks to make my turn. The one thing I haven't tested out yet is the quality of my breaks so I managed to lock them up and slide a bit. Oops. I was really afraid I was going to overshott my turn, but I remembered there was a small parking lot 20 feet beyond my turn so I just slowed down a bit more and kind of drifted in. I damn near humiliated myself, but I guess I recovered that one. She turned the opposite direction right there, but I'm not sure where she went.

I know it's not a great "racing" story, but I'm perplexed by the whole thing. I don't really race so maybe I'm missing something. Was she maybe just feeling my car out? Should I have followed her? I think we were on the best road to race so I don't know where else we would have gone. The whole thing was just weird and I went to work kind of disappointed. There's no way she was flooring it is there? I mean the 2.6 is under powered, but not that bad........

maybe she was lost? or maybe you imagined she wanted to race, that happens to me all the time, i cant help myself but race everybody, but i got a 70mph speed limit so i can go that little bit faster!

Yeah, I thought maybe I was just in the mood to race and was projecting or something, but I swear she would drive real slow until she got just behind me and then hit the gas. And I was really loud next to her when I climbed third and she didn't even look over.

Maybe she's sitting at her office right now telling all her friends how some crazy fuck in a porsche tried to race her. Or maybe she's just
