I'm not 100% positive but I have been told an s14 red top and s13 redtop are the same thing just one is newer. If you did your own wire harness or if you didn't I would double check it. My friend had unknown problems for MONTHS it would do that and then it would run fine the next day, or you could be driveing down the road pulling hard and strong then it could start sputtering. This was caused by the jack ass that did his wire harness. After 3 months of problems (started 1 month after being on the road) we found it was shorting between the firewall and the engine where you couldn't even see it. It was crazy but fixed that and it fixed the problem.

Re: sr20 starting problem

the S14 ecu is totally different than the S13, will not work. S14 has variable valve timing, a boost pressure sensor, and the pins for the spark plugs are in a different places. Stop all attempts to start it in this configuration or you can damage your engine. Get an S13 ECU. Blacktop or redtop should work. Dont use the S14 or S15, it is suicide.

tell him you want a s13 ecu and then you will send back the s14 ecu

its not like the sr14 ecu is worthless, its probably worth more money then the s13 ecu...
