I would like to see more photos of that particular car though. Hopefully it will appear on a few other sites. >8^) ER |

Re: 69 for sale
Have there been any major updates on the whereabouts of chassis #69 since "Duesey" posted his story about meeting with the US dealer that was trying to sell the car?

Not that I can recall....
As I understand it, if the government confiscates a car and don't plan to crush it, it goes to a Customs holding area where it stays until you can either bring it into compliance or find a buyer for the car outside of the country and export it. The biggest hurdle for #069 back then would have been that post-1995 McLaren F1s couldn't really be approved for 'Show & Display' because there was no way for them to meet the EPA requirements which are also part of the deal. Apparently now, all years of the F1 are elligible for approval though. I'm not sure anyone can really confirm the whereabouts of #069 at this point, but I don't believe it has been legally imported into this country yet. As far as where exactly it's sitting at the moment - that's really anyone's guess. I wonder if that windshield ever got fixed either? Maybe someone would like to try and track down Tom Weiringa or Paul Cherry and ask them what happened to that car, or possibly give Fox Valley Motorcars a call and see if they have any info they would be willing to share. I doubt it though... >8^) ER |
