new speakers

i want to install new speakers in my 01 nissan almera but i'm not sure about which types to put in the back. i know a component kit will go in the front since that's what's there already but i want to put coaxials in the back. does anyone know if the crossover unit that seperates the high/low frequencies for the front also services the rear speaker cos in this case coaxials would be a waste since the high frequencies would never reach them.
