New '96 GLE, a few questions
Hello,
I am new to this board so hello! I have a few questions, and you all seem knowledgable, so I thought I would run them by you. I just purchased a 96 GLE the other day. When I purchased it, it ran great. I asked the previous owner what type of fuel he used and he said he used regular 87, with no problem. Now I have read a lot stating you should use premium fuel, so for my first time filling the tank I used premium fuel. However, ever since then I have had difficulty starting the car when it's cold. Also, the check engine light came on. Could this hard start be from the switch to premium gasoline? Is there anything I can do for this? It just seems funny that it started the day after I filled up. Any suggestions or ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thank you! Jen |

putting in anything less than premium will cause the engine light to come on. your starting probs when cold are also a result of the 87 you put in...i did it once and had the same problem. just put premium in, the perfermance is so much better.
also...a little known fact...your gas mileage will be as good, if not better with premium than with conventional crap gas. since the higher octane burns cleaner, the combustion created by the gas/air mixture is greater...giving the car more power. hope i helped. |
