OBX sucks, heres my experience (56k get cable and view this)

not really sure where this post belongs, sorry, but i figured id get a fair amount of attention here, and this is where I normally post.

So here goes, I purchased this OBX manifold two months ago, and ever since then, it has needed more weld jobs than I have had to fill up my gas tank. It has just gotten to the point where im done with it and I cannot stand it anymore.

heres the view from the top, the red outlines show all the cracks that had to get rewelded.

and from the bottom, its no differant story.

where all the pipes meet? no differance.

since i couldnt weld underneath bolts, i even had to weld inside the pipes.

continuing on...

my car sounds like a lawn mower because of this crack.

and of course, the crack wraps around to the top.

im no fortune teller, but this small thin lined flaw looks like its a crack to be, a future of welds awaits this manifold.

this is why i want no more part of this manifold, look closely, the pipe is cracking.

so in conclusion, this manifold is absolutely terrible. it has been nothing but a nightmare since the first crack. the welds looks absolutely amazing, but of course, looks can be decieving. I hate it, thanks for reading. post this post anywhere you find someone looking into buying an OBX manifold. Let someone benefit from my mistake.

I have a full obx header, and cat back system...the only thing that sucked, was the bolt holes were so small i had to drill them out to get exaust bolts to go through, and there were some fitment issues (i.e. had to use a couple gaskets) but other than that it's nice.

I had welding classes in school, but am by no means an expert. But i could tell you that a dislexic monkey could lay a better bead than the ones on that header. I would contact OBX and demand some form of compensation. Just absolutely rediculous.

I had a similar experience...

I bought a OBX short shifter from a local shop about 3 years back. I had the thing break on me in central Nj, about 130 miles from home. I had to borrow my ex gf's dad's car and come all the way home and get my stock shifter and tools. Instead of laying on the beach, i was underneath my car in the lot of a Harley dealership. What a waste of a weekend. Thank god the owner of the dealership was cool enough to let my car sit there until i came back.

I took the pos back and asked for my money. Instead he ordered me a skunk2, which ive had ever since. I learned my lesson with cheap shitty parts, i really hate seeing guys go through the same unecessary headaches. Like i tell everyone...YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR!

Re: Re: OBX sucks, heres my experience (56k get cable and view this)

i've has more trouble with tenzo than obx. we got an exhaust the was welded backwards, contacted tenzo. they said they would send a new no cost to me, no return on the incorrect exhaust. turns out tenzo had a whole bunch of them accidently welded backwards (they noticed the problems thnx to us). they send us another exhaust and it was backwards too. i gave up.

i've had an OBX short shifter for almost 3 yrs. my only complaint is my knob became stripped out and now i can't get it off. but that could very well be the shiftknobs's problem.

Dude, no offence, but I was in welding class for 3 weeks before I dropped it for a difference course, and I can weld way better. Hell on my first day I was doing better than that.

But for the subject, sorry to hear about your problems, atleast know I know why OBX parts are so cheap.
