to buy or not to buy...

i'm thinking about buying a 97 3000gt(base). its white. paint is in good shape, the clearcoat or wax on one headlight is yellowed and peeling, but should be able to be buffed out. the clearcoat on the little extension of the back bumper is begining to peel. there are like 2 barley noticeable holes in the leather of the drivers seat. rear hatch strong arms need to be replaced. clutch, compressor, and iono wat else has been replaced. i can buy it for less than 6k. it has 169000 miles. mostly highway. what do you guys think?

it is high mileage, but those miles are from a woman driver, who is a home health care nurse, so theres a lot of road miles. even in the 4500-5000 dollar range what do u think? do these cars/engines/tranny's tend to get unreliable with high mileage?

Holy shit, was this nurse on call all the time that she needed a 3000gt?

Anyways, I would go against buying it for that price.

I agree. A '97 base GT has a SOHC engine with only about 160 HP stock. With that many miles, it probably won't last too much longer before you have to do major repairs. I say save your money and invest it in a GT with less mileage.

Note that I said to invest in a GT. Hehe

Dude don't bother with the 97-98 base, especially in that condition, for that price you can get a much better car with 100k miles.

car

the reason that i'm even really interested in it is for resale. like to drive it w/ a for sale sign. like i say, it seems to have been well kept, lightly driven, has had most major break down parts replaced. what would be fair price for that car would you say?

I wouldent touch it for more than 3000, but thats me and I'm a real bargin hunter. I also bought mine for re-sale value since I want to end up with a VR4 next summer and I don't need to be paying for insurance for a car I don't need at school.
