Emission Problem
I recently was given an 88 Honda Civic 4WD wagon. It just failed inspection in NJ for emissions. The CO and HC levels were high. The car does burn a little oil (about a pint every 1000 miles). Its runs and idles fine and I'm not sure where to start. I intend to replace the PCV valve, plugs and air filter and replace the oil and filter and use synthetic oil.
What else should I check and or replace? You ideas would be appreciated - I hope this car can be fixed without replacing the valve guides and piston rings. Thanks Julian |
