Thumbs up Falken Azenis Tires!

Well, I managed to pick up a set of these tires used (less than a week ) from a friend who is selling his car. I gave him my old tires (Potenza RE92's) plus $50, and i paid for mounting and balancing. So he could make some money back on the tires since he was selling his car. Anyways, They are 195-60-14's, a size smaller then i would have liked (195-65-14, or preferrably, if they make it 205-60-14 <- yeah right). My initial impression is they KICK ASS! These tires stick! With my current suspension setup, they easily keep up. Where my old nitto 555's or the Potenza's would slide under hard driving these take quite a bit more G's to break lose. I'm going to try and get my G-tech hooked up in an empty parking lot, or skidpad to get some numbers, just to see what these tires are capable of, cause it's a lot! Maybe hit the 1.0 G mark? haha yeah right, i wish.

Here's some pictures of the tires.

Is anyone having problems seeing these pics? I went to go show a co-worker these pics, and i had to right click and go to show picture to show him the pics. If so, here's the link to the regular pics
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Team-N.../Justin/tires/

Also, anyone else have any experience with these tires? I'm curious to see how long they'll last? Thanks

Interesting tread design, should be good in the wet. I'm assuming they are directional? Do they have the Traction, Temperature and Treadwear ratings moulded/printed on the sidewalls? That will give you some idea of treadwear.

Oh, I can see the pics no problem.

They are directional in the fact that the big groove needs to be on the inside of the tire, that's it. And the ratings are 200 A A ... but i know each manufacturer rates them a tad different, so a 200 in one company will vary from another company's 200.

Yep, 200 is fairly low treadwear but not unexpected for a performance tyre since softer compound = better grip = shorter life. Look forward to the g-force results.

Looking at those pics again, its like the RHS tyres will be pumping water the wrong way when rolling forward LHS looks proper though. Oh well, I guess Falken knows what they're doing. If you do some wet tests, try comparing left turn results with right turns ... might be interesting to see if there is any difference.

Good luck with the wet tests, I live in Tucson... it's a desert When it rains (hopefully it should soon, it usually does some around this time of year) I'll take it out and let you know how they do, but I'm personally not expecting a lot, they look more like a dry tire, just due to the amount of tread that contacts the ground. My older Nitto 555s, or the 450s are definitly a much more conventional wet/dry tire.

You should be very happy with them. They are very sticky (for a street tire), should help out quite a bit considering the extra hp from your turbo. Also, a very nice feature I've found, is that even when they break loose (say the 1-2 shift) they are quiet, no barking and squealing like most any other tire. Also, straight line grip is pretty good too, I notice if I get overly exciting off the line they catch up very quickly, keeping wheelspin to a minimum.
