Question lowering a 1998 camry LE

i wanna lower it about 1.5 inches...can i use stock struts or can someone recommend some good struts for lowering? Im about to replace the struts soon.

I will also be riding on my stock tires for a couiple of months ..will this cause any harm?

Re: lowering a 1998 camry LE

You could go and have your springs chopped, it wouldn't hurt, although there is a lot of controversy about chopping springs, but it's pretty much up to you on how you do it. As soon as you replace your struts, the car will go back to normal ride height, but it won't if you chop the springs. It's much easier and cheaper if you chop the springs than to go and purchase a whole lowering kit and everything. But the choice is yours.

Most common combo to lower a Camry is Eibach Pro-Kit w/Tokico HP Struts. You can also use TRD springs and strut set.

There is alot of different set-ups but the most common like I said for the Camry is the Eibach Pro-Kit w/Tokico HP Struts combo.

my $.02. DONT CUT YOUR SPRINGS!!! without new struts u will bounce around like crazy. u might be able to lower your car cheaply, but cut springs can hurt ur stock suspension. spend the money and buy some decent springs.

"As soon as you replace your struts, the car will go back to normal ride height, but it won't if you chop the springs." i have never seen aftermarket struts "add" ride height. shocks/struts have nothing to do with ride height, unless your old shocks/struts are completely dead.

if u chop the springs u will get a lot of bouncing. if u add aftermarket struts to chopped springs ur bouncing problem will be reduced. IMHO y not spend the money on good springs if your gonna get good struts. the ride and handling will be a LOT better than cut springs.

Dont Do It

DONT CHOP YOUR SPRINGS, Keep your shit or do it right man, if you cut your springs you are doing it ghetto, the point of lowering your car is to make it perform better and look better, if you just cut your springs it will not be as safe and you will have camber problems just go out and purchase a lowering kit from trd or buy some shit off the net for cheaper, search on google Im sure you can find a kit

cutting springs wont cause camber problems. lowering most vehicles even with aftermarket springs will cause negative camber. although yes cut springs are unsafe.

Cool Lowering Camry

How much camber do you all suspect, if I want to lower my ride about 1.5"? I saw a camber kit that would adjust it -1 to 1 (degree/inch?). Would that work or do I need some super-whammo-dyne camber kit. No worries, I plan to buy new springs and struts. Good info above.
