96 ranger no heat
96 ranger, low miles. A/C works perfect, no leakage of any kind. Heater will put out warm air on floor setting only, but if dial put anywhere else where a/c pump engages, only cold or cool air will blow out. What should I be looking for and where do I start?

Re: 96 ranger no heat
The A/C will be "on" in: DEF, VENT, MIX, & A/C, off ONLY in "OFF" and HEAT settings.
As I recall, this year Ranger uses an electric stepper motor to move the "blend door" which directs the airflow either thru or around the heater core. Based upon your description, I'd say that it's stuck and/or just inoperative. |

Re: 96 ranger no heat
Where is this electric stepper motor located on vehicle. How should I test?

Re: 96 ranger no heat
these vehicles are also very well known for the "blend door" breaking - open the glove box and fold it all the way to the floor - behind it will be a white box - on top of the box will be a circle that moves with the motor - place your finger on top of the circle and move the temp selector - if the motor is moving but the temp isn't changing the door has broken
