Fuel Sending Unit - '99 Isuzu
I just want to say thank you to amigo-2k and others who contributed for all of the good information found on this website about the fuel sending unit problem. I am currently going through this issue as well!
My Isuzu has 64k on it, and this will be the 2nd time that the fuel sending unit is going to be replaced. (we think that when the dealership repaired it the first time, almost 2 years ago at 44k miles, did a crappy job... or maybe not, lol!). Carl Black Isuzu in Roswell/Alpharetta Georgia gave an estimate of 375 for it. (Part & Labor) Pugmire Isuzu in Marietta wants 57 for the part and 89/hr for labor. The service man, familiar with the repair, quoted me for 2.5 hrs of work. So, about 280. Better than Carl Black... but still expensive. I made a proposition to Pugmire Isuzu that I would bring in the part if they would do the labor. The service man said he was cool with that and it would still be the same cost for labor, but I couldn't get a warrantee on the work. The power train warrantee expired at 60k, and the previous repair done to it expires 12months/12k miles. If I ask them to repair it and buy the part from them, I will get a 12 month/12k mile warrantee. If I supply the part, no warrantee. I bought the sending unit online for 35 bucks like everyone has recommended and am waiting in the mail for it to arrive. For those who have done the repair themselves, did it take 2.5 hours like Pugmire quoted me? How difficult was it? (yes, I have seen the guide to doing it with the pictures.. very nice, too!) Does anyone who posts here live in the metro Atlanta area and did you have any luck with finding a cheap repair? Should I give into the dealer? |

Re: Fuel Sending Unit - '99 Isuzu
Does anyone know the drive cycle for a '99 Isuzu Rodeo or where to find it???
I'm not having much luck with Google... but perhaps I am using the wrong words. |

Re: Fuel Sending Unit - '99 Isuzu
the sending unit is a delphi part that is also used in gm vehicles and it was never improved and still fails even after being replaced

Re: Fuel Sending Unit - '99 Isuzu
I replaced the sending unit @ 3-4 weeks ago. It's not that difficult. I took my time, especially with removing the mechanism from tank, so it took @ 3-4 hrs. Few helpful hints: 1) get the tank as low in fuel as possible because it can get pretty heavy; 2)be careful with the clips on the wiring for the sending unit, their kind of tricky but mine came with a picture and easy to follow instructions; 3) don't forget to disconnect the battery, sparks and fuel don't mix.

Re: Fuel Sending Unit - '99 Isuzu
So, as an end to my story about this... I got the Pugmire Isuzu dealer to do the repair. I was in at 8am this past Satuday morning and out at 9:15am. Only 1 hour and 15 minutes.
I still have my sending unit that I bought online and came in the mail. If anyone would like to buy it from me before I list it on Ebay, please send me an email... [email protected] |

Hey gang,
I still have this part from St. Charles Isuzu if anyone wants it. I have not put it on Ebay yet. I am very willing to bargain for a low price! Part# 8-25323-011-1 Sender Kit, Fuel Tank Hey... how about stocking up on one when the sending unit goes bad next time? Send me an email at [email protected] if you are interested. I'll post a reply on here if it is not available any longer. *Brian* |
