how can i tell if i need knew shocks and struts?

If the struts are leaking and or the car bounces badly you'll need new struts. Springs are usually something you should look at check to see if none of the coils are broken off or if the car is sagging.

yea but it will spring back up but if your car stays down or whatnot then you might need new springs and stuff
