Turn Signal/ Hazard mayhem

On my 93 Rodeo Im having problems with my flashers and hazards. I replaced the Flasher unit, it worked for aobut 7 hours. Next day went out to start the truck and again no flashers/ hazards. Again, replaced Flasher , it crackled when I tried to use turn signals, but still no turn signals. Now, I have Hazards, but still no turn signals..already checked bulbs, fuses,,etc.. HELP..Im ready to lose my mind.

turn signal buzzing and failing

I just fixed that problem on my 95 Rodeo 20 minutes ago. For the recipe see a bunch of other posts in this forum (e.g. #169). Thanks to the guys who posted their experience!

It totally is the switch in the steering column. And just in case you don't believe it and think it has to be the relay or something else (like I did...), forget it. It is the switch!!! Also, it can't be done without taking the steering wheel off (like I had initially hoped). The wheel has to come off. It is quite easy to make your own wheel pulling tool with a piece of aluminum that has three holes in the right places plus three nuts and bolts. I think the lever that actuates the switch doesn't have to be taken of, you can access all the four contacts that need to be cleaned when you pull off the board located on the other side. I only realized that after I took the lever of... If you do take the lever off, make sure to take it off gently. There are a bunch of springs, pins and a ball to lose.

Have fun!
