I have a 1985 300ZX. the car runs pretty good after you get it started but it takes about 10 - 12 tries before it starts. Almost like it's loosing it's fuel prime, like it has to pump back up. i can hear the fuel pump running but it never shuts off.
would the fuel pump or fuel pressure regulator cause this problem?? |

try putting the key in the ignition, click it all the way but stop prior to cranking...leave it a few seconds, so the fuel pump pressurizes the system and give it a try.
you might want to check all your plugs and connectors, they might not all be firing, since the car only runs pretty good, if it vibrates, then it means some of your plugs arre missfiring. |

Sounds like a fuel system prob to me. Do what prodigy said and if that doesn't work, check the fuel pump, fuel filter, fuel lines, pres. reg., etc.

Make sure you have the 3 fundamentles of car starting,
1- Fuel 2- Air 3- Fire/Spark Check to see if your fuel pressure is in the spec. zone. Cause it sounds to me like you have a weak pump thats not getting the system to its proper pressure levels. But I am just a lowly Volvo tech. |
