Unimog - Dakar style progress thread

This is a Dakar racing truck model converted from a Revell of Germany's Unimog kit (rescue vehicle). I'm not making a replica of an actual vehicle, but rather one that captures the Dakar spirit (that also means I cant do anything wrong on it ). As for livery, I plan to make it sponsored by Corona beer. You cant get more heroic than delivering beer in the desert! I have a member of my local model club making decals for me, so we'll see how they turn out. I'm building mostly OOB, but if any of you guys know of some essential equipment that it should have (less the beer keg taps on the side) post it in this thread. I already have two spare wheels to include somewhere on this rig.

Here are pics of the unweathered chassis. I've weathered the chassis now and it looks nasty. Pics to be posted soon.

Thanks for the complements. I failed to mention that I scraped enough flash off this thing to make two other models. A warning for future builders.

Revell Germany seems to have a problem of old moulds with their re-re-realeases of kits from other brands (or not)...

So, nice cleaning job! I'm curious to see how it will look at the end!
Do you plan to dust it a little in order to make those glossy tires look closer to the real thing?

(oh, yes, Tundra, it's 1/24!)

What a unique project!

I can't wait to see what you've done with the weathering.
