axle
I went out and purchased a new front axle (due to the fact my cv joint was shot) and went to install it but the splines would not match up to those off the tranny(it would not go in for sh$^). maybe they gave me the wrong part. on reciept it says L4 and was wondering if there is an L4 tranny? is there a special(tool) to get it back in?

what kind tranny you putting them in i know my 90 crx si came with a L3 maybe thats what you might need bro

it is an L3 as well. should the axle just slide right in or do you got to play wit it a little to get it to go in?

well its only tought as it was to get out dont bang it in then you screw yourself...i havent put mine in but plan to do so in like 5 days when rest bolts get here i was missing on my motor after throwing a rod bearing...but just turn the axle till you feel it lock in with the splines then tap it in from there...but if it seems really hard then gotta be wrong axle....easiest way to tell compare it to the old one

They must have given you the wrong one because all the 4th gen Civics have the same inner joint splines.

Where is it hard to go in? At the hub or the tranny? It should slide into the hub fairly easy but when putting it into the tranny, you need to put some force behind it and shove it in there pretty hard. But like feagle said, compare it to the old one if you havent already taken that in for a core. Or just call the place you got it from and ask them for the correct part number and see if yours is the same.

im trying to get it into tranny. i returned old one for core
 .it does engage but just the end of the axle about till little ring on end then wont go in anymore. splines look just barely to tall after where it engages.

well you can always pull other one out for last resort and match it up with the one they gave you find out if its the right one...if you do take it apart member bigger axle goes on drivers side

man i got new ones for my car and it was a bit+h to put in i had to slam it in and the wheels were just as hard i put the rotors back on and put the axle in and than hit the rotor tell it was throw enough to get the bolt on
