HELP...Car Wash Caused Scratches..What Can I Do?
Hi guys,
I'm new to the whole car scene and like an idiot I washed my car in one of those drive thru car washes that has all those brushes coming down on it. I have a new black Ford Mustang and I usually clean it at a touch free car wash but this time I messed up and went through one with the brushes. Now I have all these scratch marks from the brushes I guess all over my car. What can I do to eliminate these scratches? Is my clear coat ruined forever? These are not chips, their just swirled scratch marks all over the car. I'd really appreciate someone helping me out with this because it's my 1st car and I'd hate to notice these scratch marks forever. God I hope someone has a solution. I currently own Meguiars Quik Wax and Quik Detail, will any of these help or am I screwed? Help !!! |

Meguiars works very good. I used it on my motorcycle and it looked new after I used it. If I'm not mistaken it's a 3 step prossess. That's when you get the best results. I have a 2001 Mustang, so I know how you feel!! Good luck!!

Re: HELP...Car Wash Caused Scratches..What Can I Do?
The scratchy black mustang problem , quite common yet alot of people wouldnt realize that the drive through paint scratcher isnt so good on the finish. Heres the problem you will be encountering after you shine it up again , Meguires = great easy to use products only down fall is it dont last too long and breaks down and requires re-applications to upkeep the finish. If you do a 3 step application process make sure the 3rd step is sealant cus if you dont seal the paint the waxes will wear off quickly. I work for Ford and can honestly say that ford paint takes to synthetics easier. Another thing to keep in mind , if your power polishing try to follow the aerodynamics of the vehicle , polish it front to back never cross ways (people will argue this one) dont use a rough pad either your just making it uneven in the application process and just askin for swirls.
Any how , make sure step 3 is sealant other wise your gonna require a step 4 with sealant put on last.
