Lift and Tires????????

I have a 93 Silverado Extended Cab. I want the lifted look and about 33-35" Tires but don't know much about lifts. I am considering a 3" Body Lift mainly because of the fact that it is relatively inexpensive. Is it possible to get the tires I want with a 3" Body Lift and not have to worry about any rubbing? If not, what lift should i get and about how much would the price be?

285/75/16's will fit on a stock wheel with no lift and they are the same as a 33/11.50. If yoou want 33/12.50's then you generally need a 4' lift because the wider tire causes clearance problems. They may fit with the body lift dependind on which wheels you use. I am not sure about 35's, But I think to run those on the IFS chevy you need a 6" lift.

Re: Lift and Tires????????

Yes, in order to run 35's, you will need a 6" lift. Be sure to check the backspacing on the rims you get to make sure everything will fit properly and you'll have minimal scrubbing.

Re: Lift and Tires????????

If the backspacing on the rims is not correct, the tires will either scrub onthe front air dam, or on the inside of the fenderwell when turning. I can't quite describe backspacing in my own words, but I'll find you a definition.

im planning on using the stock 15" rims and just getting larger tires, so there shouldn't be any problems with the rims rubbing. my only concern was the tires rubbing the well, i would like the 33/12.5 tires but im not sure about the width fitting. i guess ill just hafta try it out and see what happens, thanks for all the info

Unles your truck has aftermarket wheels already they are not 15". The stock wheels are 16" x 6.5" . The 33"/ 12.50 will rub without a lift. If you have 15" wheels the backspacing is most likely different than stock wheels so you may not be able to use any 33" tire. If I am not mistaken a 285/75/16 is the largest that will fit on stock rims without a lift and that is about the same as a 33/11.50.

My dad bought the truck in 93 and has had it ever since, the size of the tires it has now are 235/75/15 and the rims are 15x7 5-lug. I also checked the sticker that the manufacturer puts on the doors and it reflects these same sizes. I do know however that the rims were optional equipment. do you think ill have any problems with using these rims?

If you only have 5 lugs then you must be talking about a 2 wheel drive truck right ?? I have never seen a chevy 4x4 with 5 lugs only 6. In that case you won't fit any 33" tire on without a lift.

Sure you're not thinking of a 3/4 ton and not 1/2 ton?

I'm sure. I have owned many and worked on many more and every 4x4 1/2 ton Chevy I have seen has 6 lugs as does the 3/4 ton with the 7,200lb GVWR. The 3/4 tons over 7,200 have 8 lugs. I currently own a 92 and a 98 and they are both 6 lug, One has the 10 bolt and one has the 14 bolt 9.5" semi floater.

I would guess maybe a 32 or a 33 / 11.50 with the body lift. The rears would fit easy it is the fronts that cause the problem. Call around to some places that install lift kits and ask what will fit. Be sure to specify that you have a 2 wheel drive. The tires you have on there now are somewhere around 29-30" x maybe 9.5.

Re: Lift and Tires????????

Slap some 265's, or 285's on it and I bet it'll look good, and you'll have to do very little to get them to fit
