That's mostly lazyness. That's their problem and they'll pay for it. Instead of pitching in a little here and there in parts and fixing stuff myself, they're gunna pay waaaaay more money up front for the shiny new car and I'll still come out way ahead.

$800 for my car, $350 for (a pair of really good) tires, $350 for power steering repair (shit happens...oh well), $5 for a coolant hose (currently in the process of fixing), and maybe 8-10 hrs of my time. I'll take that over dumping $15K...$20K...$30K for a good new car any day...screw that. I could use that money for my car.

This just goes to show that most people have more money than brains.

Expensive, new car...or...cheap car + a little work...that's a no brainer to me.

I can't afford a new car, nor would I EVER spend the money that some car manufacturers are asking for some new cars. Of course there are exceptions, but new mustangs, Kias, Hyundais, (most) Chevys, Caddys, etc...not getting my money...to hell with that. I'll work on my car, thank you very much...save my money, then buy a Z32TT when I get the cash and a Z33 when I can....and work on all of them...bitching...moaning...cursing and drinking beer the whole fucking time cuz work's a bitch...but in hind sight, it's fun and gives me a sense of accomplishment...gives me a sense of pride cuz I know I didn't just take my new shiny mustang to Rousch and pay them a completly absurd amount of money to make my car faster or something. I saved money, I (will) have a fast car, I have something to be proud of, and I know more about my car than most people know about theirs (and I'm still learning).

There will always be someone faster than me, and that's fine...so I might as well do all the work I can, have fun with it, learn, and not spend rediculous amounts of money.

Damn right...that's what I'm talking about. Do the work yourself (as much as you can, at least), learn, have fun, make what you can, and don't dump stupid amounts of money in something unless you're gunna make it count (eg...not spending umpteen thousand on a body kit or something stupid like that).

Re: 300zx vs Civic

man those nsx's go farking hard hey!!
look mean too!!
S2000's look wikid aswell

Honda has never been highly regared as a performance brand, everyone knows this, it doent mean they dont produce performance cars the type R, nsx and s2000 are all very good cars and have all got cult status now, they are just not as highly regarded as the other jap manufacturers

Re: 300zx vs Civic

S2000... mmmm..

240hp on a 2L NA engine is pretty fucking good. It helps when the S2000 weighs less than almost every other car on the road too.

Never underestimate Honda's R&D department.

Re: 300zx vs Civic

Honda makes good cars. A good car is a good car. This is why civics are such good candidates for modding. You can't say they're not...there are oodles of painfully fast civics out there and everyone knows that.

It's people that try modding their cavaliers, sunfires, and saturns that are REALLY out there...they are not as good as civics when it comes to build quality, therefor, I would not trust a modded cavalier, sunfire, or saturn as far as I could push it.

My friend had a saturn and this thing sounded like it was held together with Elmer's Glue...rattled and shook all to hell when idling...shitty cars...they're getting better, I've heard, but in their earlier years...wow...this thing had the cooling system COMPLETELY REPLACED like.....3 TIMES.....and it STILL OVER HEATED...then I see people modding that same model of saturn and I laugh my ass off...

All in all...mod a quality car and you should be alright...Civics, NSXs, and Integras are, and always have been, good quality cars.
