i want to disconnect the onstar. it is of no use to me. big brother listening in on my every breath is quite annoying(the vehicle was a gift...buick rendevous. also the lights are not on for it anyway, they were when i got it but not now...does this mean that it is not on?? sunne

Onstar can't listen in on you. The airbags deploy, and they'll send help, but only if you pay for te service. They can't do anything for you if you discontinue service, so theres no harm in leaving everything connected.

If you are not a current member than ONSTAR has de-activated your car already. Which means it has been turned off.
I don't think you can disconnect the Onstar from the rest of the car without causing other problems. Your car has a computer network and one function of the network is to make sure all computers are online and able to send and receive messages. By disconnecting the Onstar the other computer will know something is missing.
