Re: Reliability of Michael Moore

I think he's just as guilty of propganda as anyone else in polotics.

It dosn't make what he's trying to say wrong, its just the methods he use's are not exactly honest or ethical, which makes him a hypocrite.

I agree somewhat.

911 is not a documentary, as such. To describe it as such is to invite criticism.
However, it is political commentary in which he makes an admirable effort to support his argument.

Much of the news media in the States is unable or unwilling to provide sufficient criticism (constructive and otherwise) of Bush & co. Their relative silence is shameful. We all should support Mr. Moores effort to broadcast an unpopular but very valid opinion (whether we agree with him or not)

Re: Reliability of Michael Moore

Their are 2 types of people when it comes to Moore, those you love him and those who hate him. Not much in the middle ground on him.

Re: Reliability of Michael Moore

I would put myself in the middle ground.

I agree with his dislike of consumerisim and corparations, and his obvious dislike of the current Bush administration. But I disagree with his methods.
He seems to gloss over the real issues, and make a big deal out of the more sensational but more minnor ones.
Either its because of his own ingnorance, or he's making an assumption that all americans are to stupid to understand the more important issues.

Its a very dangerous and stupid assumption to make. Americans can not all be that stupid, and the ones that are will not learn anything from his works.

He claims to be out to educate, but I think he's going about it the wrong way.
All he seems to do is generate hate create a barrier between two opposing views.

I think I am still the only person on this board who's actually talked to the man. Not taking his movies into account, he's a moron. He's also whats great about this country. Even morons like him can succeed.

I say we either send his fat ass over to Iraq, or to Siberia. Of course, we could just throw him off of a boat in the middle of the ocean and watch his whale ass sink.

Nah, we don't need to deport him. The worst thing you could do to him and his image is to air a live debate on television between him and someone who knows what their talking about. Chances are is that he'd walk away just like the congressmen he asked to sign their kids up to go to Iraq.

Thats a brilliant example of his ignorant and inflamatory style of jouralism.

By doing that his simply trying to generate hate and distrust within the general population.
Instead of focusing on the real issues, like why is the US in Iraq in the first place, and why its a bad thing, he does something that is totaly irrilevent.

The US has sent a lot of service men to war in the middle east in the last 10 years, but I don't believe ANY of them were consripts.
They all voluntared for thier service and they all would have known at the time it would mean a chance of going to a war zone and being killed.
But they still signed up and went anyway, and they did it of thier own free will.

If the US was consripting soliders and the sons and daughters of congressmen were excused then he would have a case.
But the simple fact is the sons and daughters are free to join if they want to, just like the rest of the US population, and given the strong conections in the US between the military and polotics then its quite likely that a few congressmen do have family serving in Iraq.

Re: Reliability of Michael Moore

I want to see Bill O'Rielly(spelling?) and Moore have a debate, that would be very entertaining.

How about sending Bush, Rumsfeld et al to Iraq? They seem to think it's a good idea for us to go there...'

Remember folks -- if any of the facts in 911 were actually lies, the administration'd be having his ass for libel.

Re: Reliability of Michael Moore

I've actually talked with him. He responded to everyone of my questions with "But don't you think (such and such item the Bush Administration has done) is awful? How can they do that to our nations children." etc. etc. He skirts issues, is an awful debator, and should be selling used Yugo's.

As for Libel... no. Thats like me going to sue the makers of the Hulk for slandering the good name of the normal Bruce Banner, and sighting lies because humans cant turn green, get buff, and jump 4 miles when they get angered. Its theater, its a movie, its fiction based on fact.
