Re: Brakes

with new pads i have to do 300 miles brake-in period, but after that i will let you know, i have also heard bad things about x-drilled so that is one reason i go slotted. they look a lot bigger when they are off the car, but i just got stock size, don't have enough money for bigger brakes.

right. but i was also lookin at the z1motorsports.com big brake kit for the front. it is like $750. that is the cheapest i have ever seen a big brake kit. they use the same calipers but they change some things aorund in them. how much did u pay for your rotors and where did u get them from. just aboutn the cheapest i have seen them is stillen.com (surprises the hell out of me).

Re: Brakes

i got my rotors at sgpracing.com and they were $95 each, here is the link to them http://store.yahoo.com/sgpracing-sto...nslotordr.html. i got my green stuff pads from courtesyparts.com, they only sell green stuff pads for the front brakes on a 300zx, which is kind of weird to me.

Re: Brakes

Congrats... let me know how it goes! I bought some Crossed-drilled and slotted rotors but have not installed then due to the fact I'm still hunting for a good pad combo. BTW they only make the front pads (Greenstuff) it's not that they don;t carry them... kinda retarded, huh? I was thinking pf getting some Greenstuff so let me know!

Re: Brakes

yes, i am bringing an old thread back. but now i finally uploaded pics of my brakes. know that i have worn them in, they feel great. but i forgot one part while putting them on, the grease betweent the piston and the pad you are supposed to put there. so know they squeak every once and a while. here are two pics (yes, i know, my wheel is very dirty).

looks really good. i heard those stainless stell brake lines make a tremendous braking bite due to the soft rubber hoses and after 10-15 years of wear and tear they just arent as strong and pull as hard as they used too. well good job man. looks great. did your brakes squeal real bad due to warped rotors? when i say really bad i mean like glass breaking bad

Re: Brakes

looks good man... any idea how to get rid of that rust colour in the slots tho? i know brakeing gets it off the main surface, but what about the slots? looks real good by the way... oh.. and your wheels are really dirty!

Re: Brakes

if you want to get the rust color off right away, you can take just a towel or something and rub it out. or it goes away in a couple of days, i took these pics right after i washed the car itself (didn't get the wheels washed as you see) and drove it around the block once to get the rust color of most of the rotor.

i will do stainless steel brake lines sometime down the road. i can already feel i have more bite with these breaks and i never feel them fade. i could feel my stock breaks fade a little bit in dail driving, but these don't at all.
