I have a very nice 1990 730i that has given good service so far however it has two minor faults that are starting to irritate me.
It started when the light behind the temperature selector for the drivers side died. I could live without that and have not thought too much about it. However the backlights to the buttons on the computer now go off for no good reason. The display remains active and everything works ok. They stay off for some time and then come back on again. Sometimes you can push the buttons and every thing is ok, other times if I change from MPG to time the lights go off. The thing is very secure in the dash so I don’t think that it’s a broken wire. Before I dismantle the thing to replace the bulb in the temperature control wheel does anyone have any experience of the lights going off on their computer and what the cause was? |

Hi There,
I had a 735i 89 (E32) which had "gremlings" in the instrument cluster either there was no light or it started using a different languge it all came back to the gold plated connectors so the way I tackeled it was to take the cluster out and clean every connector and I found that you don't have to remove the steering wheel but you have to try it for yourself. Good Luck Steen :flash: :flash: |
