z32 transmission

Hows it going w/ the room? i notice the more i read about nissans the more i like the company from time to time i see alot of people are curious to know if one can do skyline engine swaps by looking at this www.escort-us.com i have noticed one can make the vg30dett to being a 3.2 liter 1200 hp car. even though its a waste of money what i would like to know is if its possible one can put a 6 speed transmission in a 300zx (350z or skyline) just a quick question

Any help would be appreciated
Thanks

Re: z32 transmission

Anything is possible in the realm of automotive modifications, and fabrications.

You can make your own adapter plate that will enable the BNR34 GTR's transmission (or Z33) straight-up to the VG30DETT.

Although it would be a pointless, and silly swap... Sure it could be done.

For the amount of effort and money you would have to put into this project, you may as well pick up a different powertrain.

Why is one more gear so important?

For the amount of work, it seems silly.

I would just go 1viadrft's course.

RB25DET.

Or Hell, go RB26DETT bolted directly up to an RB25DET's transmission. The bell housing and bolt pattern fit precisely.

Make sure you get an BNR32's GTR engine though. Otherwise the clutch initiation is "Push" style, instead of a "Pull" thus the set-up would kind of contridict itself.

sounds good what gets my attention is that i have never seen a z32 300zx w/ skyline engine inside of a 300zx that is lhd, on a picture. i know it could be possibly be done w/ the 240sx but since the 300zx engine bay is designed differently i notice that the 300zx second engine option can only be swapped w/ a domestic engine even if it could be done i believe it would be very expensive though.

You don't see it much because the VG already in the car is right up there in terms of performance and durability. And for what it would take to just get the RB in the car and do the first round of upgrades to get say 500hp at the rears, you could have a completely built, boosted and otherwise insanely powerful VG making 700+. From there the amounts of money you will spend on either engine negate any initial advantage one has over the other.

But if you are trying to make a unique show car or something...

Re: z32 transmission

I dunno guys.... I'm starting to think I should build one of the FASTEST Z32 NA's after talking with the ESCORT guys.... but I really love that RB idea! Sure putting in an RB is probably not the most cost-effective swap or mod... but imagine everyone's face when you pull up in your local IN-N-OUT parking lot!

If you are spending that kind of money its way beyond parking lots.

Re: z32 transmission

I hate the whole 'show' concept myself... if I had a monster under my bonnet (always wanted to say 'bonnet') I would make everybody race me, then pay me to find out what I had there! Bwahahaha!

Re: z32 transmission

... George me and you are going to have to meet up and see who's got the Most-Bad-Ass car, here in a year or so...

Gutted 600bhp VG30DETT powered Zed Slicks...

Verses.

RB25DET powered 2+2

Damn... Would be a good one.

(I'll be out West next summer... Building cars for my buddies shop in Phoenix... Maybe then.)
