its on the thermostat housing. If you pull of your intake pipes, the thermostat housing is right there attached on the passenger side of the block, has the waterneck attached on top of it has the cap for the coolant. Anyways, if you look on the front half of the thermostat housing, your sensors are there.

i haven't exactly looked at the coolant resevoir, but you should not be able to remove the sensor from the tank itself, you will have to follow the wiring harness and find out where it plugs into, and unplug that.

Re: coolant sensor
You know, I never took off the sensor wire "stuff" when I changed my coolant a couple weeks back. I just made sure when I was cleaning the tank that I didn't get water on it.

YES YOU CAN TAKE IT OFF ITS HELD IN WITH A RUBBER GROMMET, JUST LIFT THE SENSOR SLIGHTLY AND WORK A SCREWDRIVER UNDER THE SENSOR AND IT WILL POP OUT, BUGGER TO GET THE TANK OFF THO........ 3 BOLTS IN A WIERD POSITION GRRRRRRR...........

Re: coolant sensor
For Everyones Information
now iv'e got a bit more time on my hands i thought i would let you all know exactly how i got on with my coolant level sensor. after searching through the post archives on here i felt there is some confusion on regarding the two warning lights on our dashboards for the water level and windshield washer level so i thought i would clear it up seeing as i got it wrong myself too!!! after struggling in removing the 3 bolts ( you have to have a 3rd degree in yoga) what holds the expansion bottle ( the white bottle under the engine fuse box) i removed my level sensor by unplugging it which is held onto the slam panel by the headlamp via a small push in clip (drivers side for me mine is rhd) and lifted it completely away from the car and removed all the coolant from the bottle. i then turned it upside down and underneath there is a rubber grommet holding the sensor in place (see previous post) after removing it there was 12 years of gunge in the bottle which i removed with hot water and washing up liquid. i put it all back, filled up with coolant and the light was still on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! it was then i realised that the actual warning light up was for my washer bottle so the light in the bottom right hand corner of our dashboards with the bars going vertically is the warning light for the water coolant level and the one 3rd up which looks like a radiator 1/2 full is for your washer bottle, which on inspection on my car the grommet holding the washer motor in place was leaking hence my light flashing at me more than a pervert in the park. i thought it had to be the coolant warning light as i only topped up the washer bottle the night before doh!!!!! still at least i got rid of all that gunge in the coolant tank and the sensor was gunged up too so i probably saved that from failing in the future. hope this helps brian.
