1987 Nissan Pulsar NX SE quits when ahead
I have a 1987 Pulsar that thinks it can take a break whenever it wants. The car just stops running. It will not start again for at least 2 hours. Then it will start right up and go, go, go, until it feels like a break. No warning or anything. It just stops. Has anybody else suffered from a lazy Pulsar. If so, please let me know what helped. I'm at a loss. It is extremely hard to find a mechanic qualified to work on this rare engine.
Desperately wanting to enjoy the ride again. Please help. |

Check your sensors, if they aren't working, the automatic shutoff sometimes kicks in... Well I don't know if that's true for an 87, but it sounds like the same problem... Another thing to look at is the distributor and ignition coil, although since you are driving when it quits it probably isn't that. Good luck!

My Pulsar never did that, but it kind of sounds like either overheating or maybe vaporlock in the fuel rail. I know what you mean about mechanics not having a clue about the engine. I quickly became more of an expert on my engine than the local Nissan mechs. Watch your gauges/lights when you're driving. If you don't see anything, try the E.C.U. trouble code routine.
