exhaust flame thrower

I was looking at them on line and they seem to be very simple to make but they talk of a secret part that is involved that is expencive. I was wondering if any one knew how to make on. I think the flames would be nice for the person behind me so they could see me through the dust.

Re: exhaust flame thrower

They have a tendancy to melt bumpers too unless you have real long and ugly exhaust tips.

Re: exhaust flame thrower

uhhh flame thrower exhausts have been around long before people in imports began adding fart cans and stickers to their cars. Its been around long before fuel injection too.

Re: exhaust flame thrower

yeah the "secret" part is just an ignition interrupter that cuts power to the ignition system and redirects it to a set of spark plugs at the end of the exhaust. it interrupts the timing so that the engine pumps air and fuel through the exhaust undetonated and then the spark plugs at the end of the exhaust ignites the mixture causing the desired effect. wouldnt be too difficult to replicate if you knew what you were doing...

Re: exhaust flame thrower

flame thrower kits are really only easy for carbed cars, if you have a modern FI car, with computer controls, and catalytic converters, its really not worth it, its doable, but youd kill your converter in a week, and doing all the wiring and such so that the engine didnt cut off without spark would be really hard to do, your O2 sensors would have to be disabled at the time you tried to fire the flame throwers and such. however i did see a sick setup on a civic, that had a massive turbo, and every time his waistgate blew, and the excess fuel was dumped down the exhaust it lit up a spark plug and shot flames out the back. pretty smart, he didnt even have to screw with his engine, or cut power to the ignition system.
