A Test of Patience - CF GT1 Porsche (WiP)

Here's a project that has been started, And like other projects, I would really like to finish one day. It's 1/24 Tamiya Porsche GT1 with the SMS Carbon Fibre exterior package. I also have the interior package of CF too, yikes!!! This is my second exterior CF project, the first was a 1/20 Lola Indy Car that was done in bare CF.
The Porsche was actually decaled at sea while sailing in the Canadian Navy in the Persian Gulf right after Sep 11 !!! I don't know why I put myself through these headaches!

!!! Awesome work! I would never have the patience to do something that extensive!
A little off topic: you wouldn't have happened to be in Scale Auto about 1 and 1/2 years ago would you? I remember reading about someone from the Canadian Navy C/F decaling a Porsche at sea...
Really outstanding work!

Yes indeed, it was, they even had a small photo of me!!! That photo wasn't really supposed to be published though, it was in a Restricted compartment on the ship...oops! I don't think I compromised any of our Canadian Secrets though...like how to grow good....forget it!!! lol

what kind of ship was it? I know on todays ships Battleships and Carriers in particular...along with Cruise liners they are so big you feel little or no movement of the ship. I understand about building the car on the ship...not much the Canadian Navy has to do

I would like to know..how did you end up getting published in the magazine in the first place? That car looks absolutly perfect!

Re: A Test of Patience - CF GT1 Porsche (WiP)

The ship is around 450 feet long and is a frigate...It rolls, trust me...but the Persian Gulf is always normally very smooth sailing, even at 30 knots. I just sent Scale Auto a small article knowing they would probably like to put in print that even at war, models are still being built and sure enough!!! I also completed a 1/43 Tameo Stewart F1 Car (SF2) while in the gulf!!! Again, thanks for the positive feedback.

Looks fabulous.

I can imagine the patience you need for that; I'm still in the process of doing a Jordan 191 test version (the one that was not green but completely CF). I've put it on hold for now and will probably continue during the winter...
