1985 TBird/Runs and Shuts off!!

Help... I have a 1985 Tbird (original Owner)153,000 miles and my problem is that it will run and shut off at different times or it will run rough and then work its way out. This happens on different times,warm or cold and it driving me crazy. I have replaced the injectors, senors,
I was told it couldn't be the Electric fuel filter because it would not start at all if it went bad. Can it be the Vacuum lines? Or a Ignition Coil?

I can't put in on a machine because it won't act up at the time and I was told to figure this out it needs to be acting up at the time of being put on the machine.

hey doesn't that suck huh!!!!!!!
when it dies,turn the key on and see if you hear the fuel pump priming,should go for about two to three seconds! if you can't here it your pump or sending unit is shot,careful here because it could be that the wires running to the sending unit on the top of your gas tank could be shorting out!
Now if the pump primes and that has been solved then you have igntion problems!One way to test this yourself is to go buy a spart tester at any supply store,it looks like a spark plug with a alligator clip attached to it's side, now when the car stops again pull a sparkplug cap and plug this thing into it then clip it to a good piece of grounded metal and turn the engine over{get someone to crank it for you so you or the friend can watch for spark if there is no spark you start looking at the ignition system i.e. cap and rotor,coil all that fun stuff!!!! This kind of problem requires pateince and take all the time you need to trouble shot each area before moving on to the next hast will bit you in the ass!!!!!

Question could it be the ignition Pick up coil and or the ignition module?
I replaced it at 26,000 miles (125,000 ago).
But that does make sense what you said.

like i said you have to slowly go through the culprits and like sherlock holmes whatever is left must be the problem!i know it can make you feel like lighting it on fire! i've been there!be cool its a cool car

I also own an 85 ford thunderbird i am 100% sure that it is your ignition module. A vaccum leak wouldn't just make your car shut off after it has been running for awhile, but most definatly the distributor module.

or the distibutor module be sure to check that also, and be sure when replacing the module to coat the whole backside of the module with dialectic grease to avoid too much heat transfer to it.
