I have yet to see a good driver in a RWD car take a good driver in a AWD car from a digg son..............did you think I thought a modd m5 would lose to a stock wrx ...............I said simply from a digg the wrx would take him probably till the end of second going to third.....

Sounds like where I live. At my school alone we have an M3, an Integra Type R, a T/A WS6, a BMW sedan (not sure what kind), Two WRXs (not STI), and an Audi TT. Yeah, there are some spoiled people at my school.

Re: Beast vs Rex

RWD > AWD for drag. With a powerful car w/ good suspension and therefore weight transfer, RWD is better. RWD will put more power to the ground(less drivetrain weight = more power). If you have a poor drag setup and poor traction/launch skills(which is the case for almost all street cars/drivers), AWD will prove better on the launch than RWD simply because it has better traction. Not much better though. If you've got enough power to break the rears free, you definately have enough to break the fronts free. Its better to save the weight and just go RWD. If you have a properly built suspension and chassis, RWD will be able to put down as much power as you can make with no problem. Directing some of that power towards the front wheels will just put less power to the wheels that need it. Plus less nose weight will lead to better weight distribution for a drag car, yeilding a lighter car and better weight transfer. If you build a car for stoplight racing, RWD is the best choice, then AWD, then far behind is FWD. Most streetlight cars aren't really built for dragging(b/c of owner's brand preference, style, what the have available, ignorance.. whatever), so most of the cars I see dragging at the stoplights are FWD, then RWD, then the occasional audi/subaru/eclipse representing the AWD crew.

True

The WRX is a beast for it's class, and in my opinion still should have pulled from launch, however an M5 is in a whole different class.

And by the way, a AWD car has a great advantage early in the race, however it can be harmful at higher speeds.
