Advice needed.

My 1988 Mustang GT 5.0 has 3.73 gears, headers, flowmasters, hurst shifter, and stock intake with k&n filter. What would be the next good upgrade with a budget of $500? Tranny is rebuilt, engine rebuilt and stock brakes. Thx for input.

now that i stop to think about it, do your cam. you can get a great one for around 200, and have some left over to screw around with say, fuel delivery. like 24# injectors and a suitable mass air meter. you can get that whole deal for less than 300. you'll see more gains from a nice lumpy cam than just intake... although that and perhaps some hogged-out GT-40 heads/roller rockers would be your next logical step.

Re: Advice needed.

save another 3-500 and look into gettin a head, cam, and intake...if you put these together right, youll have yourself one bad ass stang! i dont think its necessary to upgrade to a bigger cam w/ poopy flowing heads....plan your cam and intake around your head...their sizes have to correspond to work well...

I agree, cam and injectors on a stock headed and intake'd engine would make a poor running car that isn't really any faster than it was.

I'd second the intake, check Ebay for some deals. Explorer intakes are a hot item for budget power right now, as well as GT-40P heads.

Re: Advice needed.

No cam, not to mention he's SD and his computer would have a fit with some serious mods. If you do plan on heads/cam/intake, then you would need to convert to mass air. All of the above will set you back atleast 2 grand if not more. Way out of your budget right now.

So I'd start with suspension. Subframes, shocks/struts, springs, control arms, alum driveshaft. Not sure if you have one or not, but and o/r h-pipe would help out as well.

Was just about to ask if he still had the speed density system. Was pretty sure mass didnt come out until '89.
