Synthetic oil disappearing act

Have a 2000 2.0 Jetta. Decided to use Mobil One instead of the Iffy lube cheapo and after 1000 miles got an oil pressure light pulling into a parking spot. Was almost 2 quarts low, maybe sloshing caused transient oil pressure light or sub idle rpm? Checked for no oil leaks. Does this engine not like synthetic oil or do I maybe have a blow-by problem?

Re: Synthetic oil disappearing act

I don't like synthetic due to problems like this. If there's a small leak it will be a big one with synthetic. If you're sure it isn't leaking externally, then it probably burned it, how many miles on the engine? I'd go back to regular oil (good quality) & see if it still burns as much.

Engine has 57000 miles on it. Runs fine, have never noticed blue smoke but it's suddenly burning the synthetic. Will look for a white puff on start for valve guide seal wear.
