Re: Is the E60 M5 the greatest sedan ever?
Has anybody heard about the next RS6, it is suppose to also have 500HP and it looks pretty sweet. I'm sure Mercedes won't let it's E55 AMG stay behind both the RS6 and M5 for too long, especially since one can argue that Mercedes started this Horsepower war. I fully expect the E55 AMG to also surpass the 500HP mark. Wow isn't it amazing, that a couple years ago, the only car that could claim 500HP for under $100,000 was the Dodge Viper SRT-10. How times change, very fast, the 500HP club now includes and will include the Dodge Ram SRT-10, (new) Ford F-150 SVT Lightning, (new) BMW M5, (new) Audi RS6, (new) Corvette ZO6, and possibly the (new) Mustang SVT Cobra.

I've heard all sorts of rumors about a new RS6. But right now thats all they are, there is no concept RS6 out there, the present one is too new to replace already. Maybe in a few years though. As for Mercedes, supercars.net has a page on there newest attempt at fighting the M5, the CLS 55 AMG. Not sure if it will actually do as well as the M, but it sure looks pretty good. Im not one for the Automatic/Tiptronic shifters though, SMG is still the best.

who cares about forced induction vs. naturally aspirated?
i'd much rather take any previous M5 than the new one frankly |

Re: Is the E60 M5 the greatest sedan ever?
all arguments aside, I think that the best SEDAN would have to be a maybach or a rolls, not a bimmer

Yea, lamehonda, Bimmer=car beamer=motorcycle...
In my opinion the Maybach and Rolls might be really nice and all, but their not really drivers cars like the M5, RS6, and E55. Maybach tells customers that their cars are designed to be drivin with a cheuffeur (spelling...) and really so are the Rolls. You can see this in the design. The rear seats are soooo much nicer then the front. On the other hand, the M5, RS6, and E55 are designed with the driver more in mind then the passengers. They are much lighter and quicker then the Maybach type super luxury cars (even though the Maybach has a massive engine). They are really just the next stage past the 760, A8 6.0, and the S600, which also aren't much fun. The M5, RS6, and E55 are probably the most fun you'll ever have in a sedan. Givin a choice between an M5 and a Maybach 62, I would still have to go with the M, even though its 1/3 the price. |
