noise when I turn to right
above 30 mph I have a humming/kinda grinding noise from the left front tire area when I turn to the right. I have changed the front brake pads (suggestion from friend, needed it anyway), but no success.
it was not making that noise before I put two new tires on the front. Now it makes that noise... any ideas/suggestions? |

Re: noise when I turn to right
sounds like wheel bearing
try swapping tires and see if noise moves with tire |

Re: noise when I turn to right
What year is your Venture? I've heard that Chevy has a replacement for the power steering system on some Ventures due to grinding or failure when turning right? Has anyone else heard of this?

My 2000 venture make grinding noises when I make a right turn and I can hear that noise just at very low speed. when I bought the car (2 months ago) I did notice that but did not say anything because my other 98 Venture has the same noises and never gave me any problem so far in 4 years. I still have 1 month of warranty (certified dealer vehicle) and maybe I should talk to them, what do you think.....?

Check out http://www.gm-v6lemons.com/recall.html to get some background on the GM steering recall, your 98 may be included. I had a 98 with the same problem for about 2 years before I traded it, but never had any failures, just that noise at slow speed right turns. I've now got a 2000 but no complaints so far. If you have warranty you should take it in and explain it, get it in writing that they checked it out. That way, if in another year you have a "real" problem you might have some leverage with the dealer or GM to get it fixed at reduced cost. Good Luck.
